./start-projectname.py prod.conf hangs

Reported by: dundeemt Owned by: anonymous

Severity: blocker Keywords:

Description

attempting to use prod.cfg doesn't allow cherrypy to start -- it hangs without error. You need to control-c to break it.

Steps to repeat:

  • get a copy of 1.0b1 or 1.0b2
  • create a new project
  • copy sample-prod.conf to prod.conf
  • try and run it with the prod.conf as a cmd line arg, ./start-projectname.py prod.conf

boom - you're hung

Problem presents itself on Ubuntu 6.10 and FreeBSD 6.1 -- haven't tested it in the devil's playground (Win32)

Python 2.4.3

Versions affected: 1.0b1 and 1.0b2 (haven't tried anything earlier)

Fully reproducible: Yes

My newness with the .cfg files and their use of setup.py as the flag instead of the existence of dev.cfg was part of the problem. The book explicitly says the opposite so it took my a while to drop out of clueless mode and read the code. When I wasn't seeing the same info logging to the terminal as I did with the dev.cfg I mistook it for hanging, I thought I had been refreshing my browser but I wasn't pointing at the correct location.

sorry.
