Safari encoding of XMLHttpRequest

Description

Safari has a bug where it ignores the encodings of XMLHttpRequests. TurboGears employs a workaround for Kid templates, the same workaround should be implemented for JSON output.

  • Component changed from CherryPy to TurboGears

It turns out that JSON should already be getting the same translation that occurs for HTML output. Here's the original thread about this:

Isn't this irrelevant for JSON since simplejson escapes everything but ASCII?

I believe this has been solved... Can someone using Safari test it?

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to fixed

Rune reports that the problem appears solved in Safari 2.0.3, and I think Bob's comment is correct that simplejson takes care of this as well.
