QuickStart ToscaWidgets Projects

Reported by: paj Owned by: anonymous
Priority: low Milestone: 1.5
Component: tg-admin (non-toolbox) Version:
Severity: minor Keywords:

It would be great to have a flag to quickstart to make the project use ToscaWidgets?. Not many changes to the files, "toscawidgets.on = True" in config, and remove the ET() calls in Genshi.

What do you mean by "remove the ET() calls in Genshi"? The current quickstart templates do not use any widgets, AFAIR.

Having a quickstart flag just to set one config option seems a bit overkill to me. I would suggest providing a full ToscaWidget? quickstart template as an extension package instead.

I think this should be either:

  • rejected as "wontfix" and someone who needs this should implement a quickstart template extension, or
  • postponed (i.e. milestone '__future__') until we have sorted out a migration path from TG widgets to tw.

+1 for the wontfix... When we have settled to migration path to TW we'll create a default template set with TW anyway...

For the moment anyone interested enough to implement a QS with TW should contact us in the ML so that we can help him create a plugin for this.

I think he meant the ET() calls in the master template that were necessary in earlier TG versions to convert Kid widget output to be used in Genshi templates. However, this is not necessary any more.
