Debugging interface does not load in TG2.0 if PYTHONOPTIMIZE is set to 1 or higher

Reported by: aigarius Owned by: Chris Arndt
Priority: normal Milestone: 2.1
Component: Quickstart Templates Version: 2.0.3
Severity: trivial Keywords:

Description

Steps to reproduce:

Ubuntu 9.10, Python2.5. Install TG2.0 via the downloaded script. Create a new quickstart project (with auth). Start the project - it works. Add a line 'crash()' to the index controller. Start the project, it crashes as expected, but there is no debug interface, because all URLs under /_debug/ return a 404 error.

  • Severity changed from critical to normal

It started working after running 'paster setup-app development.ini', still it is an unexpected failure mode.

Well, this is weird - I can not get it working again. I tried running both 'paster setup-app development.ini' and 'python setup.py develop' and tried fresh quickstated projects with or without auth and just could not get the debug interface fully working again. What I get is a plain, unstyled traceback page (the same that the debug interface would return), but all the css and js files included in that page return a turbogears 404 error. The same error can be seen when going to the traceback page that is printed in the console on a crash.

Is that really 2.5? the default for that ubuntu is 2.6.

Could you try using the virtualenv route?

  • Severity changed from normal to trivial
  • Summary changed from Debugging interface does not load in TG2.0 to Debugging interface does not load in TG2.0 if PYTHONOPTIMIZE is set to 1 or higher

I just found the difference between working and not working.

If PYTHONOPTIMIZE is set, the debug interface will fail to work.
