I'm commandeering this ticket to refocus it on running the logging through the same mechanism as much as possible (Python's logging module) and making it easily configurable. I'm also changing the milestone, because this won't be in 0.9a1.

  • Ticket #609 – Description

    initial v2
1 Took me a few minutes of searching to figure out how to log to cherrypy's logger.  It would be nice to have a sample somewhere in the quickstart code. Something like:
    2     cherrypy.log("In welcome screen", "INFO")
1TurboGears uses Python's logging module internally for logging debugging/error and info output. Configuration for this should be exposed in the config file (and the quickstart config should include it so that people know what to change).

3Additionally, it would be good if we can route CherryPy's log messages through the same mechanisms (not sure if that's possible though).
