Widgets should be viewable in isolation in the widget browser

Reported by: kevin Owned by: anonymous
Priority: normal Milestone: 0.9a3
Component: Toolbox Version:
Severity: normal Keywords:

As more complex widgets appear with more complex JavaScript?, it's possible that some widgets will not work well with others. (Lightbox appears to be one of these: it doesn't work inside of the Widget Browser.) The solution could be to have a WidgetDescription? option that says that a given widget should only be viewed on its own. Rather than including the widget's JavaScript? and displaying it onscreen with the other widgets, these widgets would have a placeholder displayed in the main view and would have a view that is only that single widget.

I think only widgets that play nice with others should be accepted into the core, making any such provisions unnecessary.

You're correct about the core widgets, but the widget browser should be able to display all widgets on your system. I didn't mean to implement this right now, but I did, in [1055].
