Ticket #956 (closed defect: duplicate)

Error received while following instructions at http://www.turbogears.org/preview/docs/tutorials/wiki20/page3.html

Reported by: davec Owned by: anonymous
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: Documentation Version: 0.9a6
Severity: normal Keywords:

I am seeing the same error as reported in ticket #917 and one of the problems seen in ticked #909.

For the save method I get:

TypeError??: save() got an unexpected keyword argument 'submit'

I am using the tutorial at:

as suggested in the resolution on ticket #917.

Adding the kwds argument to the definition of save, as described by the submitter of ticket 917, fixes the problem. Otherwise, the save command gets an extra argument that it can not process.

I am running TurboGears 0.9a6.

I, too, receive this error with the tutorial, and the workaround of adding ", kwds" to the Root.save method signature resolves the issue. I do not understand why ticket #917 was closed; the online version of the docs referred to in #917 matches the content at  http://www.turbogears.org/svn/tags/0.9a6/newdocs/docs/tutorials/wiki20/page3.html. Is the assertion that kwds should not have to be used, or is it that the person closing the bug thinks that the docs already include instruction to use kwds?
