Ubuntu

  1. For a clean Ubuntu, you need install gcc first:

$ sudo apt-get install gcc

  1. To install Turbogears on Ubuntu, the libc6-dev and python2.4-dev packages need to be installed:

$ sudo apt-get install libc6-dev python2.4-dev

These packages provide header files etc.

  1. Run ez_setup.py from the Turbogears download page.

$ sudo python ez_setup.py

  1. easy_install Turbogears

$ sudo easy_install -f http://www.turbogears.org/download/index.html --script-dir /usr/local/bin TurboGears

Tip:

Do NOT install python2.X-cherrypy, python2.X-sqlobject or any other packages that are used by turbogears. Remove all these Packages (via apt-get remove ...) and then install the versions in the turbogears thirdparty-directory.

Question about the Tip: What if I have other applications that depend upon these Ubuntu Packages?
